Two Lunch Hour Concerts in August at Unisa

The Unisa Music Foundation lunch hour concert series continues this month with two concerts on the Muckleneuk Campus in Pretoria.

The Young Talent Concert of  the Unisa Music Foundation’s, will take place on Friday 16 August at 13:00 in the Miriam Makeba Concert Hall.

The Unisa Music Foundation has been involved in community music development since 1998. This concert will give some of the most talented and conscientious  young musicians an opportunity to hone their performing skills in front of an audience.

Included on the programme are young violinists Busisiwe Mashita and Thapelo Lephoto, as well as a young ensemble from the Kingdom Life Centre.

Vocalist Onica Moyo will represent the popular genre at this event. The young Katlego Ndlovu and Leago Mahlangu on jembe drums will also add variety to the concert.

Jazz

On 23 August jazz pianist Lenore Raphael will perform at 13:00 in the ZK Matthews Great Hall.

Ms Raphael is an experienced performer and teacher who has given extensive master classes in the USA. She also has her own radio show.

The concert will be followed by master classes.

Jazz piano students who are interested in participating in the master classes must send a short biography to Kgomotso Boshielo at boshimk@unisa.ac.za.

Entry is free to both concerts.
