The Sing 'it artists for 2012 were chosen according to the criteria of being relevant, inclusive, distinctly South African and likely to be as excited by and enthusiastic about the unique interaction between fans and musicians that Sing ‘it offers as we are at LitNet and Sanlam. The selection covers pretty much everything from straight-up rock, to funk, hip hop, pop and electro beats. South African music fans, meet your "co-workers" and collaborators:

“I am so excited to be a part of the Sing 'it competition and help discover talent in the lyric writing arena. For too long in South Africa, the art of songwriting has been left unrecognised and underdeveloped, and yet great lyricists are our modern day poets. I am proud to help grow this fledgling industry but most importantly, to make someone's dream come true.” – Louise Carver |

"Sing 'it is die tipe inisiatief wat die liriek- en musiekskryf ontbloot vir die onvoorspelbare en spontane biologiese proses wat dit werklik is. Dis soos 'n bring-en-braai vir liedjies." – Zinkplaat |

In their first year of existence, 3rd World Spectator , an alternative rock band, was crowned Best Unsigned Band in SA in the Virgin Mobile Road to V Contest and shared a stage with international heavyweights Maroon5 and OneRepublic.
"To us, not drums or bass or guitars or vocals function as backbones to our songs. It's the message and how it's conveyed that creates conversations and universes, and we do that with words. With Sing 'it the platform has been created to launch new voices in the industry and start brand new conversations, and we are looking forward to seeing where this adventure is going to take us." - Peter Crafford, 3rd World Spectator
